Default Duplex Removed for Student Printing

April 14, 2015 by

Please be aware that pages will now be printed single-sided by default on the new multi-functional devices (MFDs) for students.

Duplex remains one of the optional changes that can be selected in the print settings before submitting the “print job” to the MFDs.

Best wishes and kind regards,

Scheduled downtime for Moodle

November 17, 2014 by

Moodle is working once again, but may be slow for the rest of the day. We are scheduling Moodle downtime from 6:30am to 9:00am on Tuesday 18th November. In this time we will be running database integrity checks to improve the reliability of the system.

I apologise to all students and staff affected by the Moodle downtime today.
Best wishes

Moodle Service Outage

November 17, 2014 by

Moodle has crashed due to a database problem. The Network Team are currently working to restore the system as quickly as possible, although we are unsure what the fix time will be. We are aware that some modules have a submission deadline today, adding to the urgency and we are giving this our full attention.

To give you some back-ground, the Moodle database ran out of disk space, despite appearing to have plenty of headroom. We have tried to add more disk space but the Moodle server will not reboot and there may be some server corruption.

We have a full back-up Moodle, taken at 1am this morning. Restoring this this will be our fall back position if we can’t revive the live server.

Any students who have submitted work to Turnitin through Moodle already should be OK, as their files will be stored on the Turnitin service.

I will keep you posted on development. I apologise for the disruption arising from this.

With regards
